When decay, a crack or an old failing filling has taken too much of a tooth, a filling is no longer enough. Restorative dentistry is about keeping the tooth you have — a natural root is still better than anything we can build to replace it.
Root canal treatment has a reputation it no longer deserves. With modern anaesthetic and rotary instruments, the appointment itself is usually comparable to having a deep filling. What people remember as painful is the infection beforehand.

Treatments
Dental crowns
A custom cap that covers and protects the whole tooth. Made in porcelain or zirconia and matched to your natural shade.
Root canal treatment
Removing the infected nerve tissue, disinfecting and sealing the canals. Usually one or two visits, under full local anaesthetic.
Dental bridges
Replacing one or more missing teeth by anchoring to the teeth on either side. A fixed, non-removable option where an implant is not suitable.
Inlays and onlays
A conservative middle ground between a filling and a full crown, preserving more of the natural tooth.
Post and core build-ups
Rebuilding enough structure for a crown to hold, where very little natural tooth remains.
Repair and replacement
Old crowns and bridges do not last forever. We assess, repair or remake them before they fail unexpectedly.

Crowns, Bridges and Root Canals — questions answered
Do root canals hurt?
The procedure itself should not. You are fully numb throughout, and most patients say it feels similar to a deep filling. The pain people associate with root canals comes from the infection before treatment — which is exactly what the treatment removes.
How long does a crown last?
Typically ten to fifteen years, and often considerably longer with good hygiene. What usually fails is not the crown itself but new decay at the margin, which is why checkups matter.
Do I need a crown after a root canal?
On back teeth, almost always. A root-treated tooth is more brittle and prone to fracturing under chewing forces. Front teeth can sometimes be restored with a filling instead.
Bridge or implant?
A bridge is faster and does not need surgery, but it involves preparing the neighbouring teeth and does not preserve the bone. An implant preserves bone and leaves the neighbours untouched but takes months. We will explain which fits your case and budget.
Can a cracked tooth be saved?
Often, yes — it depends on how far the crack extends. A crack confined to the crown is usually restorable with a crown. A crack running into the root generally is not, and we will tell you straight away rather than doing work that will not hold.
